Overview

Franz Brandl shares Monochrome, a free black and white PowerGrade for DaVinci Resolve built on the idea that desaturating is not converting. It splits the image into red, green and blue before the conversion, so each channel decides how bright it renders in the greyscale, and its contrast node sits after the combiner so it never touches the weighting.

The grade uses nine native nodes with no DCTL and works without Resolve Studio, and its starting values are meant to be moved. It is a $0 download on Gumroad.
