Free Godot 4.0 Project: Worms-Style Destructible Terrain Example (Mitch Makes Things)
Original title: Godot Destruction Miniseries (4/5) - Realtime collision destruction
Overview
Mitch Makes Things shares the source code for a Godot destruction miniseries, and part 4 looks at destroying parts of existing collision shapes in real time. The example project, Spell 'Splosion, recreates a few mechanics from the 2D Worms games, with destructible terrain, explosions, a wizard character, slime projectiles and a first level, all written in GDScript.
The project folder was later upgraded to Godot 4, and the README notes that the explosion images come from Kenney while the other assets, including Aseprite sources, are free to use. The MIT-licensed files are a free download from GitHub.
