Overview
YouTube Action RPG is the companion project for HeartBeast's 2025 Godot 4 Action RPG series, built in Godot 4.4 with GDScript. It is a top-down 2D action RPG with a player, a bat enemy, a hitbox/hurtbox damage system, stats, a hearts UI, grass, hit and death effects and a pause system.
The project is hosted on GitHub with the code under the MIT license, while sprites and other art are CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 and limited to non-commercial use. It is a clean, well-scoped reference for anyone learning combat and damage systems in 2D Godot games.
