Free Godot 4.6 Project: Visual Novel and Dialogue System Demo (GDQuest)

Overview

GDQuest shares a Godot game demo that shows how to build the foundations of a visual novel with fairly accessible code. Its techniques, like sequencing animations or creating a text box to display dialogues and portraits, also apply to most conversation systems.

The repository holds the finished project in the godot folder, with a scene player, choice selector, character displayer and parser, plus a separate start project. Code is MIT licensed, art assets are CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0, and the download from GitHub is free.
