Overview

Tim Gerritsen (y=f(x) lab) shares yfxVLight in the Derivative community Asset section, a component that renders volumetric cone lights, which the post notes are especially useful for rendering pre-visualizers. It links to TouchDesigner's Light COMP, uses the light's shadow map for volumetric shadows, accepts a TOP as a gobo and can inject smoke into the scene through a 3D texture.

All rendering happens in post-processing using depth and world-space normals, so it needs a Render TOP with two color buffers, a Depth TOP and a Render Select TOP, and a 'create vlight' button adds a ready light. The portable tox, a usage example toe and a man.tog geometry asset are free direct downloads.
