Overview

Matheus Laidler shares Modern Sidescroller Template, a sidescroller starting project for Unreal Engine 5 made because the Side Scroller template from UE4 is no longer included. It was made in UE 5.3 and works in UE 5.5, and it includes foot IK, a retarget rig compatible with both UE5 and UE4 skeletons, level prototyping assets and the Enhanced Input system.

Gravity, camera lag and jumping have been tuned to feel like the old UE4 template. The project stores its assets with Git LFS, so the README asks users to clone it with Git instead of downloading a browser ZIP, and it is free on GitHub under the MIT license.
