Free Unreal Engine 5.8 Project: Hand Pose and Gesture Recognition Showcase (Meta)
Original title: Oculus Hand Pose Showcase (Unreal-HandPoseShowcase)
Overview
Meta shares the Oculus Hand Pose Showcase, a DevTech sample that uses the raw hand data from the Oculus Hands API to recognize hand poses and gestures in an Unreal Engine project. It brings the force grab and force throw mechanics from Tiny Castles, a Unity demo by Meta's Menlo Park Strike Team, to UE5: the open palm projects an aiming symbol for far-field selection, a clenched fist pulls the selected object to the hand, and objects can be dropped or thrown.
The showcase also has a projector and slides, a hand debugger and a hand-tracking frequency setting, and it comes with music, sound effects, visual effects, Blueprints and C++ code. It targets engine version 5.8 with the MetaXR plugin and is a free download from GitHub under the Oculus SDK License.
