Free Unreal Engine 5.8 Project: Procedural Drawing Material Samples (EmbarrassingMoment)
Original title: ProceduralDrawingMaterialSamples
Overview
EmbarrassingMoment shares this free Unreal Engine 5 project, a collection of Materials and Material Functions that draw shapes without using textures. All shapes are drawn using only calculations within the material, with parameters for colors, shapes and animations, and the samples include radar, animations, snowflakes, transitions, an old TV effect and a page curl, arranged in showcase levels.
The project has been upgraded to Unreal Engine 5.8, and the README explains that the Content folder can be copied into another project to reuse the materials. It is released under the MIT license on GitHub.
What You Can Learn
- Drawing shapes with math in the material graph instead of textures
- Exposing color, shape and animation parameters in reusable material functions
- Recreating effects such as a radar, transitions, an old TV look and a page curl with materials
