Overview

The Godot Engine demo projects include Voxel Game, a minimal first-person voxel game inspired by others such as Minecraft. Each chunk is a StaticBody3D whose mesh is built with SurfaceTool, and new chunks have their meshes drawn in separate threads.

The player can place and break blocks using a RayCast3D attached to the camera, and a settings menu controls render distance and fog. The demo uses GDScript and the Forward+ renderer, is MIT licensed and free on GitHub, and the master branch targets Godot 4.7.
