Free Houdini HDA: MOPs Motion Graphics Toolkit with Example Scenes (Henry Foster)
Original title: MOPS: Motion OPerators for Houdini, a motion graphics toolkit
Overview
Henry Foster develops and maintains MOPs (Motion OPerators) on GitHub as a motion graphics toolkit for Houdini that manipulates many copies of objects by leveraging packed primitives. The otls folder holds 45 HDAs, among them MOPs Instancer, falloff nodes (noise, shape, spline, texture, audio), modifiers (spring, relax, curl, flocking) and tools such as Move Along Spline and Trails.
Every node has an embedded help card, and the examples folder has about 40 .hip and .hiplc scenes, from motion_instancer_example.hip to audio_falloff.hip. The v1.12 release is a free direct download from GitHub under the LGPL-3.0 licence and installs as a Houdini package through MOPs.json; the paid MOPs Plus add-on is separate and not needed.
What You Can Learn
- Drive copies with falloff nodes such as noise, shape, spline, texture and audio falloffs
- Animate many objects with packed-primitive modifiers like spring, relax, curl and flocking
- Open about 40 example scenes to see how MOPs setups are put together
What you get: HDA (.hda, .hip, .hiplc, .json) · Renderer: Redshift · Needs: MOPs
