Free Unreal Engine Sample Project: City Sample from The Matrix Awakens (Epic Games)

Overview

Epic Games offers City Sample on Fab, a free downloadable sample project that reveals how the city scene from The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience was built. It consists of a city complete with buildings, vehicles and crowds of MetaHuman characters, and shows how World Partition, Nanite, Lumen, Chaos, Rule Processor, Mass AI, Niagara, MetaHumans, MetaSounds and Temporal Super Resolution were used to create the experience.

The 5.8 version is built entirely in-engine with the PCG framework and adds building primitives and examples in a CitySamplePCG plugin, which needs the Unreal MCP server and toolsets enabled. The project is free with an Epic account through Fab, with versions for Unreal Engine 5.0 through 5.8.
