Free Unreal Engine Sample Project: Game Animation Sample with Motion Matching (Epic Games)

Overview

Epic Games offers the Game Animation Sample on Fab, a project that showcases fully functional animation systems commonly needed in games, built using current best practices for learning or kickstarting new work. It features third-person capsule-driven locomotion powered by Motion Matching, complete with walk, run, jump and fall states.

A simple traversal system shows motion-matched blend-ins and blend-outs, and more than 500 game-ready animations are compatible with the UE5 Mannequin skeleton through runtime retargeting. The project is free with an Epic account through Fab, with versions for Unreal Engine 5.4 through 5.8.
