Free Unity 2023.2 Project: FFT Ocean and Sum of Sines Water Rendering (Acerola)
Preview from the original source by Acerola (Garrett Gunnell)

Overview

Acerola (Garrett Gunnell) shares the code associated with his videos on water rendering. It covers a sum of sines simulation with sine, exponential sine and Gerstner waves, an FBM wave simulation, analytical normals for both, and a basic atmosphere shader with distance fog and a sun.

The most advanced part is a Fast Fourier Transform ocean simulation using a dual JONSWAP spectrum, shaded by a physically based water shader with a microfacet BRDF and approximate subsurface scattering. The README notes the shaders are a reference rather than a production ready asset, and the project (Unity 2023.2.2f1) is free under the MIT license.
